Job Description

Summary

This job involves analyzing and assessing military strategies and operations for the US Indo-Pacific Command, focusing on planning, executing assessments, and understanding regional security dynamics.

A good fit would be someone with experience in defense planning, team leadership in high-stakes environments, and knowledge of government military policies, ideally from a military or government background.

It's based in Hawaii and requires a security clearance due to the sensitive nature of the work.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 or higher in federal service, including DoD assessments
  • Recent experience conducting combatant command DoD/USG assessments
  • Proven ability to lead teams in planning and executing rigorous assessments
  • Strong understanding of DoD assessment approaches, strategy, policy, campaigning, engagements, exercises, and operations
  • Knowledge of campaign planning, assessment processes, and related doctrine (e.g., JP 5-0, Joint Strategic Planning System)
  • Familiarity with USINDOPACOM Campaign Plan and related plans
  • Experience developing and staffing military plans at Joint Task Force, Combatant Command, or Joint Staff levels

Full Job Description

You will serve as a STRATEGIC EFFECTS ANALYST of HEADQUARTERS US INDO-PACIFIC COMMAND.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Recent experience working across DoD conducting combatant DoD/USG assessments; 2) Demonstrating ability to lead a team in planning and executing rigorous assessments; and 3) Understanding of DoD approaches to assessment, as well as strategy, policy, campaigning, engagements, exercises, and operations.

  • You will have knowledge of campaign planning, campaign assessment process, and related doctrine and CJCS publications (e.g., JP 5-0, Joint Strategic Planning System, Campaign Planning Procedures and Responsibilities, and Joint Risk Assessment).
  • You will have knowledge of the USINDOPACOM Campaign Plan and how other USINDOPACOM plans relate to it.
  • You will have knowledge in developing and staffing military plans at the Joint Task Force (JTF), Combatant Command (CCMD), and Joint Staff level.
  • You will have knowledge and awareness of USINDOPACOM Area of Responsibility (AOR) to include foreign militaries, governments in the USINDOPACOM AOR, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations relevant to military planning.
