The Broward County Board of County Commissioners seeks qualified candidates for Storekeeper
The Seaport Engineering and Facilities Maintenance Division is seeking a Storekeeper to perform responsible, specialized clerical and manual work in procuring and controlling materials, goods, equipment, and services at multiple assigned locations at Port Everglades.
Work involves manual and clerical tasks in the receipt, storage, and issuance of maintenance supplies, materials, equipment, or related items in central warehouses, outlying storerooms, or supply sections of the Port Everglades Public Works Section. A general knowledge of supply procedures, purchasing capital items, preparing purchase requisitions and generating them electronically, and utilizing Microsoft Excel, PeopleSoft, and computerized inventory systems are essential. Tracking, replenishing, and restocking inventory at desired levels are important functions of this job.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires one (1) year in warehouse operations such as ordering, receiving, and inventory or closely related experience.
Duties include but are not limited to:Performs annual and periodic inventory throughout the entire Division and at off-site locations.
Solve supply issues by searching for data in catalogs and publications to determine item substitution, interchange, and compliance with specifications.
Receives, unloads and counts assorted types of stock delivered in a receiving area.
Visually verifies contents of shipments against packing slips and/or invoices as to the correctness and serviceability of materials.
Locates packing tickets or invoices and posts to show the type and number of items received.
Posts appropriate shipping receipts or other documents to show if the delivery is a full or partial shipment.
Packages various items for shipment or repackages stock for return or defective goods as assigned.
Labels items with proper stock numbers for movement to the storeroom and storage areas.
Places goods on appropriate shelves or in bins.
Disburses tools and equipment as required by work requests ensuring every item is returned
Assists in moving supplies from one area to another as stock is reclassified to different numbers or codes.
Climbs ladders as needed to arrange materials on shelves.
Utilizes a fully-automated computer system that includes all facets of the procurement module for the preparation of purchase requisitions.
Initiates orders to replenish supplies.
Requests price quotations for commodities to be ordered and makes comparisons determining the lowest cost and best vendor.
Maintains current inventory of Port motor fuels and orders motor fuels as needed.
Special Certifications and Licenses Required:Ability to secure and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment.
Ability to secure and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification card (TWIC) within 60 days of employment and for the duration of employment.
Ability to secure and maintain a valid Seaport Business Purpose Credential for the duration of employment.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance, with occasional requirements for work after regular business hours.
Preferences:
1+ years experience using computerized inventory systems, i.e., AIMs, Maximo.
Possess current forklift operator certification.
1+ years experience in purchasing.
Associate's Degree or higher in Accounting or a related field of study.

Requirements
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Performs annual inventory throughout the entire division and at offsite locations; maintains a data base of all equipment in division with almost daily additions (new purchases) and subtractions (damages, surplus and equipment moving from one location to the next).
Assists the IT (information technology) department in setting up and taking down new workstations or adding and removing equipment as needed.
Prepares payroll preparation summaries for building services and deliveries; follows-up with Branch managers with emails confirming completed service requests, resolves libraries concerns and maintains sufficient inventories of tools, parts, furniture.
Oversees and assists crew members as team leader making sure requests/special projects assignments are completed safely and efficiently by established deadlines or achieve goals; meets with crew about upcoming projects and events per preschedule meetings.
Coordinates with high level manager's daily operational activities and service requisitions, weekly schedules, vehicles and equipment assignments, preschedule meetings and walkthroughs to determine the best way, reports emergencies and urgencies.
Disburses materials, tools and equipment as required by work requests ensuring every item is returned as checked out and also receiving and delivering items as needed for various sections and branches.
Pulls and issues materials/equipment for the carpenters, electricians, painters, general maintenance mechanics, shop supervisors, building managers, and office staff; builds purchase orders quotes request from computer data with manufacturer's part numbers, supplier part numbers, with quantities needed; emails/faxes/calls quotes to vendors.
Builds purchase orders (PO), purchase documents (PD), and delivery orders (DO) from the vendor quotes; sends PO to purchasing for approval; compiles and completes all the necessary paperwork associated with receiving material; checks invoice pricing against quotes; enters data into computer.
Procures stock for warehouse and special projects, searches for price agreements or requests vendor quotes via e-mail and phone.
Maintains warehouse and equipment, keeps area clean and orderly, keeps equipment in proper working order; keeps shelves stocked, bins full and in proper order.
Visually verifies contents of shipments against packing slips and or invoices as to correctness and serviceability of materials.
Performs related work as assigned.
