The Storekeeper classification is a countywide classification and may be assigned to various departments throughout the County.

We are currently seeking to fill one (1) permanent, full-time Storekeeper position, with the current assignment in the Services Group at the Juvenile Hall Unit in Martinez, CA.

  • Managing inventory flow, including ordering, receiving, and inspecting supplies to maintain minimum stock levels.

  • Coordinating inventory status and procurement actions with supervisors and suppliers under approved or open contracts.
  • Supporting kitchen, food, and emergency supply tracking, including monitoring perishable items and emergency meals for Juvenile Hall. operations.

The eligible list resulting from this recruitment may remain in effect for up to six (6) months. This list may also be used to fill future vacancies in County departments utilizing this classification.

Qualifications

License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License will be accepted during the application process.

Experience: Two (2) years of full time, or its equivalent, experience in storekeeping that included performing duties of a stock clerk, material handler, shipper/receiver, stockroom clerk, warehouse worker, or central supply work.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with public sector, institutional, or regulated environments such as government, healthcare, or secure facilities.
  • Experience supporting inventory planning and coordination in collaboration with a Supervisor
  • Advanced experience conducting scheduled inventories of supplies, including food items, chemicals, or other regulated materials, to support accuracy and compliance.
  • Experience using spreadsheets (e.g., Excel or Google Sheets), enterprise inventory, or ERP systems, to track supply issuances and expirations (beyond basic data entry)
  • Advanced experience preparing quotes, requisitions, or purchasing documentation with fiscal or procurement staff

    Candidates must achieve an overall average score of 70% or higher on the examination in order to continue in the process. (Weighted 100%).
