Full Job Description

This position is responsible for maintaining a storeroom by receiving, stocking and issuing materials, supplies, tools and equipment to the entire department of Transportation/Public Works. The Storekeeper works out of the Fleet Building, 2500 Drillings Service Road n Maryland Heights.

The starting salary will be between $16.39 - $19.67 per hour. This position will also be required to drive a snow plow truck during snow events. There will be a $6.00 per hour increase in pay for hours worked driving a snow plow during snow events.

Requirements

Receiving and verifying amounts of merchandise from vendors.Unpack boxes, check merchandise, tag inventory with part numbers and store in proper location.Use computerized inventory management and work order system.Fill orders for various offices or divisions within the Department.Operate vehicles to pick up and deliver items from local vendors and other County locations.Mandatory requirement to drive snow trucks.

Mandatory 12 hour snow shifts Operates forklift and other powered or manual moving equipment to transport stock.Place orders by phone or through purchase orders with vendors.Follow up on back orders.Return equipment to suppliers for repair or replacement.Keep inventory records up to date by posting all receipts and disbursements.Maintain records of account balances.Prepare, process, close and file vehicle and equipment repair work orders and notify appropriate personnel of insufficient funds.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Equivalent to one year of experience in storeroom or inventory control work. Also requires a current, valid Driver's License.

Additional Information SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.

The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above.

The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment.

After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire.

Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.

The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.

All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
