To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying.
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements AND Minimum Qualification requirements as listed below: BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A.
Degree: that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc.
Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing.
OR B. Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.
IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS ABOVE, YOU MUST ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $102,415) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as: Leading complex quantitative studies on sensitive issues and serving as an expert on analytical teams.
Using statistical software to analyze complex data, interpret results, and provide data-driven recommendations. Developing data systems, managing and analyzing datasets, and creating reports.
Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues in data collection, processing, and analysis. Presenting complex analytical information to diverse audiences.
You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $121,785) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing duties such as: Serving as a subject matter expert on analytical teams, providing guidance and expertise in the design, execution, and interpretation of advanced statistical analyses.
Providing analytical support for organizational decisions by assessing office locations, analyzing workload and population data, and preparing statistical reports to enhance mission performance.
Utilizing statistical software to analyze complex data sets, interpret results, and deliver data-driven recommendations to support organizational decision-making.
Independently leads advanced statistical studies using innovative tools to evaluate agency initiatives and ensure accurate data collection and analysis.
Presenting complex statistical information to diverse audiences, including senior leadership and external partners through briefings and presentations.

Major Duties:
The selectee will serve as a Statistician in the Office of Strategy, Planning, and Innovation, Enterprise Analytics Division.
Typical work assignments include: Plans and coordinates comprehensive quantitative studies on highly sensitive, significant issues by investigating analysis objectives and determining appropriate criteria and methods.
Supports the evaluation of alternatives by providing input on criteria, conducting feasibility studies for new offices, optimizing office locations based on workload and population, and preparing statistical reports on mission performance.
Leads the creation and implementation of statistically valid data collection tools and systems and analyzes agency operations to define data and reporting requirements.
Independently designs and leads advanced statistical studies using innovative modeling and simulation tools to assess agency initiatives, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis, and resolution of statistical issues.
Prepares correspondence and briefings for varied audiences and represents the agency at interagency forums.
