Requirements

This role entails overseeing all operations, procedures, and staff within the detention barn, where urine and blood samples are collected for both pre-race and post-race examinations of horses. The Veterinarian in this position plays a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of the equine athletes by administering necessary medications as required. This includes monitoring the horses' conditions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining accurate records of all medical treatments and sample collections. The Veterinarian must also collaborate closely with other team members to ensure that all protocols are followed meticulously, thereby safeguarding the integrity of the racing process and the welfare of the horses involved.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Part-time (per diem) employment.
• Work hours are scheduled between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and may vary according to seasonal demands and operational requirements.
  
• Work schedule is vendor controlled and is determined by the racing schedule.
• Salary: This position is per diem; the daily rate of pay is $400.00.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Graduation from a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or Veterinary Medical Doctor program.

Special Requirement:

• Possession of a valid license to practice veterinary medicine as issued by a State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.

Post Employment Requirement:

• If the employee is not licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Pennsylvania, he/she must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within twelve (12) months of being hired.
• Possession of a Commission Employee License

Additional Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
