The Administrative Office of the Courts is excited to invite a motivated and energetic multi-tasker to join our team as the next Staff Services Clerk.

This role offers a chance to be part of the behind-the-scenes operations that keep the Judicial Branch running smoothly every day.

You’ll support a variety of essential functions from facility maintenance and warehouse support to inventory management, reproduction services, and daily mail operations making each day a little different from the last.

Job: 2026-31

Status: Regular, Part-Time (20 hours per week)

Location: Olympia, Washington

Salary: Range 39: $20.09 - $26.10 per hour (DOQ)

WASHINGTON STATE RESIDENCY AND TELEWORK INFORMATION

This position requires you to work onsite all scheduled workdays.

Requirements


Some of the duties you will perform are:

Staff Services

  • Supports warehouse and records operations, including inventory updates, record retention activities, and handling surplus materials in compliance with state requirements.
  • Responds to staff service requests and assists with facility, equipment, vehicle, and maintenance-related tasks, including monthly logs, evaluations, and reporting.
  • Helps maintain building operations by updating floor plans, supporting emergency supply management, monitoring building security, and overseeing parking lot activity.
  • Provides delivery support by transporting judicial payroll, warrants, legislative materials, and other items as directed.

Reproduction

  • Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots reproduction and mail equipment, performing minor adjustments and requesting repairs when needed.
  • Supports the operation and upkeep of specialized and computerized printing systems while managing supplies, parts, and routine equipment maintenance.
  • Keeps machines stocked and running efficiently, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all copy jobs and mail distribution tasks.

General Duties

  • Receives, sorts, processes, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail, provides backup mail delivery, and delivers goods to Court of Appeals Divisions.
  • Handles shipments by unloading, transporting to appropriate locations, storing items, notifying recipients, and reporting deliveries to the purchasing officer.
  • Assign tracking tags to electronic equipment and forwards packing invoices and related materials to Financial Services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


High School graduation or GED equivalent

AND

Three (3) years of work experience in customer services, building or construction trades, office machines operation/maintenance and/or shipping & receiving or related

AND

Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, email and the Internet.

Valid Washington State Driver’s license.

Access to a vehicle and willingness to use the vehicle when a state vehicle is unavailable.

Ability to lift, move and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.

A combination of education and experience demonstrating the skills and abilities to carry out the duties and responsibilities of Staff Services Clerk may substitute for the qualifications listed.

THE IDEAL APPLICANT WILL ALSO HAVE SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES


  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft 365 products, including Teams, Outlook, Word, OneNote, PowerPoint, and others, with expertise appropriate to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Demonstrates strong customer service by understanding expectations, communicating effectively, and building trust through honesty and consistent performance.
  • Adapts well to change, stays flexible, and manages multiple tasks while meeting deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Takes responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work, doublechecks materials, and avoids duplication of effort.
  • Identifies problems, recommends solutions, and collaborates with supervisors and colleagues as needed.
  • Operates automated printing equipment, copiers, and related machinery; uses computers proficiently for data entry and information lookup.
  • Applies knowledge of safety practices, lifting techniques, driving procedures, basic math, filing, recordkeeping, and emergency operations.
