Full Job Description

This is a temporary promotion, not to exceed four years, job opportunity which is located in the Office of Commissioner Trusty, within the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) located in Washington, DC.

Relocation expenses will not be paid. THIS VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT MAY BE USED TO FILL ADDITIONAL POSITIONS WITHIN 90 DAYS.

GS-8 Specialized Experience: In order to be deemed as qualified applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 in the Federal service.

For this position, specialized experience includes the following: Receiving visitors and answering telephone calls from a diverse group of individuals (e.g., congressional staff, representatives of international organizations and/or foreign governments, other high-ranking government and industry officials); Responding to inquiries on a wide range of topics from a wide variety of individuals within and outside the organization; Maintaining appointment schedules, and arranging conferences, events, and meetings for a high level official (e.g., top agency official, executive, CEO) and their staff; Maintaining filing systems and automated tracking systems; and Preparing travel documents for domestic and international travel.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

The incumbent provides clerical services to Commissioner Trusty's office.

Serves as a Staff Assistant responsible for receiving and screening callers and visitors, answering independently or referring to appropriate office or staff member.

Schedules meetings and appointments for the Chairman's staff with members of the public, press, congressional staff and industry groups.

Types material from revised drafts in final form or redraft as directed. Ensures correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and required format.

Prepares and maintains a variety of managerial reports, and reviews correspondence and other documents for conformance. Receives and screens incoming mail.

Routes mail to appropriate staff member and assure appropriate procedures have been followed.

Performs miscellaneous administrative duties such as obtaining reservations and maintaining office supplies and reference materials.

Arranges for chauffeur service, arranging conferences, preparing time and attendance and/or travel documents.
