* Subject to changeDESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe Staff Analyst will support the team by managing data, reporting, and visualization related to street rehabilitation activities.
This role involves collecting, evaluating, and maintaining accurate records, developing reports, and presenting information through dashboards, maps, and other communication tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the performance dashboard, ensuring data accuracy and timeliness.
- Collect lane mile data from various sources and maintain comprehensive records.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Update and maintain relevant project information on organizational websites.
- Create and update rehabilitation maps to support planning and communication.
- Obtain and analyze rehabilitation data from Transportation and Drainage Operations (TDO), and develop rehabilitation lists and maps based on the results.
- Investigate and recommend solutions for issues of medium to high complexity and/or sensitivity.
- Occasionally assume management responsibilities for assigned functions, units, or programs.
- Compile data, produce information, and interpret results into actionable conclusions and recommendations.
- Develop reports, special documents, and publications as assigned.
- Complete special projects involving financial, administrative, professional, management, and community issues.
- Respond to correspondence and requests for information as assigned by supervisor.
- Analyze and review management practices and procedures, recommending improvements where appropriate.
- Participate in workflow and process evaluation, contributing to the design of improved operational systems.
- Develop technological solutions and systems to support continuous improvement programs and other applications.
- Perform any additional tasks or special assignments as directed by management.
WORKING CONDITIONSThe position is physically comfortable most of the time with occasional periods of stooping, bending and/or light lifting of materials of up to 10 pounds
This is a Department of Houston Public Works Management position at the Tier II Level.
Requirements
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTSRequires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a field directly related to the type of work being performed.
Graduate degrees related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the experience requirement on a year – for year basis.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSThree years of professional administrative, financial or analytical experience related to the type of work being performed are required.
Professional experience related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

- Solid oral and written communication skills

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including:
- Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint
- Strong interpersonal skills, team player attitude, and the ability to establish excellent working relationships at diverse levels
