The Colorado Community College System is hiring a Senior Programmer Analyst to join our Career & Technical Education (CTE) department at the CCCS System Office. We are looking for a skilled problem solver who can research, propose, and implement solutions. If you’re looking for a full stack developer opportunity on a small tightknit team where your work will impact students throughout Colorado, this position may be for you! Note: All interviews for this position will be hosted in person at our office in Denver, Colorado. Travel reimbursement to the interviews is not available. All work for this role must be completed in the state of Colorado; relocation expenses are not available for this position.

The Colorado CTE Gateway is the single site in which all Career and Technical Education (CTE) program and contact management and reporting, including for state and federal CTE funding, is housed.

This custom-built, cloud-based web application software is owned, developed, and maintained by the CTE Accountability team. It is built on Azure services such as Azure SQL, and Web Services.

The API is written in C# and front end is in ReactJS.

In this position you’ll provide technical support and problem solving for a variety of Career & Technical Education (CTE) Gateway application and technical issues, working closely with the Customer Support Team, other CCCS-IT teams, and other developers.

This is a highly collaborative role, and you will need to be able to translate complex technical information for end users.

You’ll be responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, documenting, reviewing, and testing complex functions, modules, and programs in order to support the CTE in Colorado database, web application, and data reports.

Duties Include:

  • Consulting with clients and project managers to analyze business needs for specific projects or functions related to the Career & Technical Education (CTE) Gateway and participating in the implementation of solutions.
  • Planning, designing, developing, configuring, testing, deploying, and supporting structure and content of the CTE web application (using C#, React, JavaScript, and TypeScript), database, plug-ins, services, and reports (using SQL), including both ad hoc and packaged reports.
  • Overseeing review, troubleshooting, development, and testing of fixes to bugs or enhancements related to the application.
  • Constructing complex SQL queries to access and manipulate data, as well as developing and maintaining stored procedures, web jobs and functions within the site infrastructure based on relational databases.
  • Developing and performing unit testing on programs/functions and working with others to contribute to test plans.
  • Implementing and maintaining the latest security practices and standards for CTE applications and on CTE web and database servers. This includes providing training to colleagues and application users on any new or changing standards.
  • Conducting web accessibility mediation of CTE web applications and related duties, such as coaching/training staff, to support compliance with Section 508 and current WCAG standards, ensuring the code is accessible and the user interface meets tech accessibility requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in technology, computer science, or related field. A combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience may substitute for the degree.
  • Minimum of two years of software or database development experience, at least some of which must be experience with Microsoft Azure, such as Webjobs, Cloud Architecture, Functions, Data Factory pipelines, storage, and B2C authentication.
  • Experience with programming languages, for example C#, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript.

Additional Information

Attributes that will contribute to success in this position:

  • Being knowledgeable about Career & Technical Education programs, especially in Colorado and with the Colorado CTE Gateway application, preferred but not required.
  • Solid working knowledge of relational database applications such as MS SQL Server, Azure SQL, MySQL, Oracle, etc.
  • Practiced in running SQL queries.
  • Familiar with React-Redux library.
  • Familiar with project management and application/software life cycle; methodologies like Agile scrum and Kanban; and tools like Team Foundation Server, Azure DevOps, Jira, etc.
  • Awareness of Model View Controller pattern, Microsoft Entity framework, and design patterns usage.
  • Familiar with frontend and backend development of websites and applications.
  • Able to understand the importance of following established state and federal statutes and internal policies and business processes.
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to: work independently when given direction, work well in a team environment, and work well in a deadline driven environment, including adjusting to frequent changing work priorities.
  • Attention to detail while working timely under mandatory deadlines.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills with audiences of varying technical skills.
  • Familiar with, or ability to learn, Selenium.
  • Awareness of cloud-based infrastructure design and implementation, specifically Azure and/or Dev Ops.
  • Moderate skills using IDE tools (i.e. Visual Studio).
  • Familiarity with continuous integration/delivery/deployment (CI/CD).
  • Practiced in multi-tasking and with task prioritization when given various assignments.

Work Location/Travel Expectations:

  • This position is located at CCCS Administration Building, 9101 E. Lowry Blvd, Denver, CO 80230.
  • Travel is rare for this position; on occasion there may be opportunities for in-state or out-of-state meetings/conferences.
  • Alternative Work Arrangements, including flexible schedules and hybrid-remote work, may be available. All work must be completed in the state of Colorado.
