Full Job Description

The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas, is recruiting for an Analyst/Programmer 3-4 in Anchorage.

This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What You Will Be Doing:

This position works with a team of Analyst-Programmers responsible for developing and maintaining custom software applications, managing databases, and integrating third-party software critical to the successful management of Alaska’s oil, gas, and geothermal resources.

This is a highly technical position that will work with technical and non-technical DOG/DNR/SOA staff.

This position is part of an IT team whose goal is to provide customer-focused technology resources, applications, and solutions aligned with departmental and state strategic initiatives.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

This position is based in the Atwood building, which houses multiple state agencies at 550 W. 7th Ave. in downtown Anchorage. Work shifts are flexible within normal Division business hours.

A typical workday will involve working both independently and alongside other development team members.

Work tasks are self-assigned via a ticketing system or assigned by a supervisor, with priorities being set by Division management.

Requirements

Analyst/Programmer 3 – Starting Salary $2646.00
Two years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of this experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer information management support specialty.

Substitution:

A bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS), or a related degree with (18) semester or (24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for one year of the required experience.

An associate's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience.

Analyst/Programmer 4 – Starting Salary $3028.50

Special Note for all levels:

An applicant who is considered under the Substitution above qualifies to apply for this job class IF the applicable coursework is completed within three (3) months of hire.

This position is flexibly staffed. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidate’s eligibility. If hired at the lower level, you will be promoted to the higher-level job class upon completion of the training plan and meeting the minimum qualifications.
