Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a senior psychologist in a children's mental health clinic, where you'll perform detailed psychological tests and evaluations for kids and teens aged 6 to 21, handle crisis situations, and create treatment plans.

You might also guide junior staff and collaborate with schools or other services during home or school visits.

Key Requirements

  • Possession of a valid California license as a Clinical Psychologist (or out-of-state license with option to obtain California licensure)
  • Extensive experience in conducting psychological testing, evaluations, and diagnostic interviews for children and adolescents
  • Ability to provide crisis intervention, individual/family/group therapy, and complex treatment planning
  • Knowledge of principles, techniques, and applications of clinical psychology, including emotional and mental disorders
  • Skills in administering psychological tests, preparing case reports, and making diagnoses/prognoses
  • Experience in providing clinical supervision, professional consultation, and coordinating services with other agencies
  • Ability to drive for occasional school and home visits, and work a 9/80 schedule in Lake Elsinore, CA

The Riverside University Health System, Department of Behavioral Health, is actively seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist to join the Children’s Mental Health Clinic located in Lake Elsinore, California.

Position Summary:The incumbent will be primarily responsible for conducting comprehensive psychological testing and evaluations for program participants between the ages of 6 and 21 years.

Additional duties include providing crisis intervention services in emergency situations and performing complex client assessments, treatment planning, placement decisions, and referral actions.

The role may also encompass leadership responsibilities overseeing other mental health treatment staff.

Work Schedule:

  • 9/80 work schedule, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM

  • Every other Monday or Friday off

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Occasional driving is required to conduct school and home visits.

Classification:This position represents the full journey-level classification for licensed clinical psychologists.

The incumbent will be expected to provide a full range of mental health therapy services, managing cases from moderate to highly complex in nature, and may serve in a lead capacity over other clinical staff.

Requirements

• Provides crisis intervention for emergency situations; conducts the more difficult client assessment, treatment, placement, and/or referral actions.

• Conducts diagnostic interviews and psychological testing batteries; provides direct individual, family and group psychotherapy treatment.

• Evaluates and recommends action on petitions for confinement; provides clinical supervision of postdoctoral psychologists.

• Coordinates and schedules services to clients with other divisions; provides professional consultation to other mental health, public social service, and legal agencies regarding mental health problems, disposition, and treatment.

• Under medical direction, develops and implements new treatment plans; prepares reports and correspondence; prepares reports and correspondence.

Qualifications

Knowledge of: Principles, techniques, devices, and methodology in applied clinical psychology; Sources, uses, and application of psychological tests; Characteristics of emotional and mental disorders and their treatment.

Ability to: Consult with and assist in the professional development of other Clinical Psychologists; administer and apply psychological tests; identify and react to normal and abnormal behavior; make diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognoses; prepare psychological case reports; establish and maintain rapport with clients, fellow workers, their professional staff, and the public; work within the policies and procedures of mental health programs.

Licenses: Possession of a license to practice as a Clinical Psychologist issued by the Psychological Examining Committee of the Medical Board of California
OR
Possession of an out-of-state license to practice as a clinical psychologist. Individuals who are hired in this option shall obtain their licensure to practice as a Clinical Psychologist issued by the Psychological Examining Committee of the Medical Board of California within three years from the date of hire.

Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
