Job Description

Summary

This job is for a swim coach at Army aquatics facilities on Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where you'll help run year-round competitive swimming programs for different age groups, oversee practices and team meets, and manage equipment.

It's ideal for someone with hands-on experience coaching swimmers, a passion for building skills in competitive sports, and strong organizational abilities to keep programs running smoothly.

No incentives are offered, and it's a non-federal Army position focused on community recreation.

Key Requirements

  • Direct experience planning, supervising, or administering swim programs for individuals and teams
  • Working knowledge of competitive swimming concepts, methods, and techniques
  • American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) certification at Level 3 or higher
  • Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Water Safety for Swim Coaches
  • Ability to oversee workouts, practices, team members, and make recommendations for program improvements
  • Experience managing inventory, maintenance, and equipment purchases for swim teams (highly preferred)
  • MWR Sports and Fitness Administration Course and Lifeguard Management Certifications (highly preferred)

Full Job Description

This position is located at multiple Aquatics facilities on Fort Bragg, NC. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Army NAF paysetting rules apply to this vacancy.

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Possesses directly related work experience in planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a Swim program that included a variety of individual and team swim sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in swim activities and a working knowledge of the concepts, methods and techniques of competitive swimming as well as skill in applying those concepts, methods and techniques to achieve established goals.

Must be an American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) at least Level 3. Possesses and maintains the following certifications: CPR, First Aid, & AED, and Water Safety for Swim Coaches Certifications.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Possesses MWR Sports and Fitness Administration Course and Lifeguard Management Certifications.

Possesses USA Swimming, ASCA, CPR and AED Certifications. Major Duties:

  • Assists with the planning, supervising, administration, direction, execution, and promotion of a year round, multilevel competitive swimming program for a variety of ages.
  • Helps plan, supervise, administer, direct, execute, and promote the Aquatics Team hosted meets.
  • Oversees workouts, team members and individual practice groups. Must be able to make sound recommendations for decisions on program changes and innovations.
  • Oversees the inventory of Swim Team property; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate.
  • Works with Aquatic Manager to recommend purchase/construction of equipment.
