Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Minimum of one year of specialized experience in a fitness center.
Must possess experience that has provided knowledge of a standardized body of rules, procedures and operations related to one or more indoor/outdoor recreation functions to perform the required activities in a fitness and sports environment.
Must have general knowledge of a variety of intramural sports, varsity sports and special events. Experience with computer word processing and spreadsheet software required.
Ability to communicate effectively with patrons, contractors, supervisors and the public, both orally and in writing.
Must be able to resolve disputes between players, coaches, and officials in an effective and professional manner.
Requires daily physical exertion and requires above average physical dexterity and ability in a variety of sports and fitness activities to demonstrate and teach participants.
Duties are performed inside and outside with exposure to excessive heat, cold, dampness and humidity.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Major Duties:
Assists with organizing, preparing, and administering sports programs, special activities, and tournaments. Designs and implements the yearly sports calendar.
Aids in developing sport specific rules and bylaws in conjunction with national organizations and base intramural standards. Prepares league schedules, promotes programs and maintains standings.
Maintains reservation system for sport courts and fields. Coordinates with base organizations to ensure sports representatives, members and coaches are continually informed of changes in programs.
Provides primary level customer service to all sports representatives, coaches, and players. Identifies equipment and contract personnel requirements and notifies Fitness Center Director of need.
Coordinates use of indoor and outdoor facilities to accommodate sporting programs.
Provides technical advice to supervisors on necessary repairs and deficiencies found during inspections of sports facilities and equipment.
Prepare fields and playing surfaces for all sports and special events. Conduct preseason and postseason field inspections in conjunction with 50 CES and SBD 41/SE (safety office).
Conducts monthly field inspections to ensure fields can be used year-round.
Performs contract administration and evaluation duties, including verification of invoices for WAWF (Wide Area Workflow) payment, identification of deficiencies/discrepancies for all contracts, and communication with contracting and accounting personnel to correct invoice problems.
Other duties include but are not limited to maybe open and ready facility for operating or close and secure facility at night.
Receives, stores, and issues towels and a variety of recreational supplies and equipment. Provides check-in counter services, such as verifying authorized users, issuing and receiving equipment.
Maintains order and enforces policy, procedures and safety rules for fitness center.
Inventories and maintain simple inventory records, initiates actions to restock low supplies, and displays checkout items.
