This role involves monitoring guardianship and conservatorship cases in Alaska's court system by reviewing files, interviewing family members and service providers, and ensuring guardians follow court rules to protect vulnerable people.
It includes providing support through reminders, check-ins, and reports, with travel across the state required.
A good fit would be someone detail-oriented with strong communication skills, empathy for those needing oversight, and experience in social services or legal support.

The SPG Monitor will be appointed on any petition for review in guardianship or conservatorship cases filed by the Office of Public Advocacy, Public Guardian, that includes a request for review for restoration of rights, including the reduction, modification, or termination of a court order.
The position will conduct a review similar to that of a Court Visitor, which may include a file review, interviews with involved family members or service providers, and the preparation of a written report to the Court and the Office of Public Advocacy for response.
This position will require travel to various locations throughout Alaska.
The SPG Monitor assists with reviewing required guardianship and conservatorship filings, ensuring compliance with court-ordered paperwork, and supporting the Guardianship Helpline, including travel to court locations as needed.
The position reviews filings for timeliness and completeness, communicates with guardians and conservators to provide reminders and answer questions, and conducts file reviews when complaints are received under the direction of the Guardianship Compliance Officer.
The SPG Monitor also supports compliance functions by sending reminders, making phone or email contacts, scheduling compliance conferences, tracking new appointments for initial filings, and referring cases to the Guardianship Compliance Officer for further review or action when necessary.
The SPG Monitor works with families referred by a judge or court visitor who require additional oversight or support.
The Monitor provides court-ordered check-ins, targeted reminders, and focused training to address specific areas of concern, continuing engagement for up to six months or until the guardian or conservator demonstrates the ability to independently meet court requirements.
Responsibilities include reminder calls for required actions, guidance on record-keeping and reporting obligations, and structured check-ins to support timely and accurate filings, while ensuring compliance and protecting the well-being of the person under guardianship.
These are partially-exempt positions serving "at-will" to the hiring authority.
IMPORTANT: Attach a letter expressing your interest in employment with the Alaska Court System. Failure to submit a cover letter may disqualify you from consideration for an interview.
