Full Job Description

This position is located in the Space Portfolio Division (SPD), Facilities Services Directorate (FSD), Washington Headquarters Services (WHS).

The incumbent of this position provides direct staff assistance to the Chief, Lease Acquisition & Project Management Branch (LAPMB).

The mission of SPD is to provide operational support to specified Department of Defense (DoD) activities.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following - Assists in planning the effective and economical use of the 12 million square feet of administrative space occupied by Department of Defense (DoD) tenants in approximately 110 facilities located throughout the National Capital Region (NCR).

- Conducts studies for planning the acquisition and assignment of space to solve particular space problems, independently investigates related technical factors and devises plans to adjust space and layouts to meet the needs and requirements of the operating agencies.

Identifies space to satisfy the approved space requirements of DoD components in the NCR from DoD's space inventory or drafts requests to the General Services Administration (GSA) Regional Office and United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for additional administrative space.

- Coordinates the preparation of space layouts in accordance with approved space requirements and government regulations and guidelines.

Works with DoD Agencies and Components, GSA National Capital Region, GSA Central Office, USACE, and/or Architect/Engineering firms, construction contractors and others, as required, to develop, manage, support and carry projects through to completion for initial tenant alterations, space renovations and reconfigurations, and to plan and efficiently accomplish organizational relocations, when necessary to meet approved program goals.

- Develops procedures, techniques and methods to resolve space problems in government-leased and government-owned facilities which are often unique and of a precedent setting nature.

Conduct on-site space utilization surveys and implement actions, as required, to ensure the full and efficient use of DoD's assigned space.

Investigates the office environment and layout to determine or verify what structural modifications are necessary and if adequate consideration has been given to factors such as ventilation, lighting, electrical outlets, and telephone lines.
