The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Wichita, Kansas is currently recruiting for a Social Work (Program Coordinator) - HUDVASH.
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education.
Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited.
A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work.

Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.

VHA may waive the licensure or certification requirement for persons who are otherwise qualified, pending completion of state prerequisites for licensure/certification examinations.
This exception only applies at the GS-9 grade level. For the GS-11 grade level and above, the candidate must be licensed or certified.
At the time of appointment, the supervisor, chief social work or social work executive will provide the unlicensed/uncertified social worker with the written requirements for licensure or certification, including the time by which the license or certification must be obtained and the consequences for not becoming licensed or certified by the deadline.] English Language Proficiency.

Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements as stated above, the GS-12 Social Worker (Program Coordinator) must meet the following requirements: Experience and Education.
One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency.
Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: (a) Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring.(b) Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program.(c) Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program.(d) Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s).(e) Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary but requires distance driving. It may require some occasional lifting (10-35 lbs).
Requires reaching above shoulder, twisting neck with ability to see from side to side with range of motion of at least 45 degrees, and ability to coordinate all four extremities.
Position requires frequent keyboarding (4-7 hours per day), sitting (4-7 hours per day), walking up to 6 hours per day, or standing up to 8 hours a day.

Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Social Worker (Program Coordinator) - Housing and Urban Development -Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) is responsible for coordination, oversight, and quality management of the HUDVASH program within the medical center catchment area.
The incumbent ensures program operations align with policy, regulations, principles, and national performance expectations related to housing placement, voucher utilization, and housing retention.
The incumbent will possess advanced clinical judgement and systems-level expertise to manage housing workflows, resolve barriers to housing placement, monitor outcomes, and ensure Veterans receive timely access to permanent housing and support services.
Additional functions of the position include, but are not limited to: Overseeing all aspects of HUD-VASH program operations, including referral management, voucher issuance, housing placement timelines, housing retention outcomes, and compliance monitoring.
Serving as the primary liaison between the medical center and Public Housing Authorities (PHAs), coordinating eligibility determinations, voucher issuance, inspections, rent reasonableness, lease execution, recertifications, and subsidy terminations.
Providing oversight of team-based case management. Ensuring program adherence to principles, providing consultation to staff and leadership regarding policy interpretation and housing decisions.
Ensuring program data integrity and reporting and responding to data requests form leadership, headquarters, and national offices. Participating in program planning and continuous quality improvement.
Providing clinical consultation and oversight to case management staff and assisting with identification of high-risk Veterans, housing instability, and eviction prevention efforts.
