About the Position: This position is located at Naval Branch Health Clinic Groton, Groton, Connecticut. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Clinical): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial for patients needing behavioral health services, providing individual therapy when indicated and formulating behavioral health interventions and safe discharge plans for highly complex medicine patients.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service(GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Work with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses.
  • Collect biopsychosocial information about patients through interview, case history, observation techniques, and other assessment methods.
  • Analyze information collected to identify symptoms and develop treatment plan.
  • Provide comprehensive social work services in the form of casework and case management by consulting on or developing discharge plans.
  • Provide individual, family, and group clinical counseling services using various evidenced based modalities as clinically indicated for adults and children.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on psychiatric diagnosis.
  • Provide emergency on-call crisis management services for behavioral health cases and all other social work needs as designated by the section or department needs.
