Apply for this Social Worker 2 position with the Department of Labor & Industry’s Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services (BBVS), Philadelphia District Office.
As part of our team, you will be responsible for providing a full range of rehabilitation services to people who are blind, visually impaired, and deaf-blind in an assigned geographic area, with an emphasis on early intervention.

In this role, you will work with children, youth, and adults in achieving safety and independence within their homes and community, as well as work with local education agencies and identified schools to implement the Early Reach Initiative.
You will provide counseling, including vocational counseling, information, referral, and advocacy services to students with disabilities to enhance their successful transition from school to services provided by OVR and eventual employment.
Services are designed to assist individuals in their homes, schools, and communities to work and maintain independent lives.
Work involves gathering customer information through comprehensive interviews, analyzing information to determine their eligibility for services, and collaborating with each customer to develop a mutually agreed upon service plan.
This includes providing counseling and guidance, referrals to other agencies and services, and information on diagnostic and other services; arranging, approving, and preparing requests for expenditures; and liaising with external agency resources to help each customer identify and engage with resources and supports needed to achieve the goals identified in their plan.
You will also evaluate and document customer progress, help modify service plans when needed, and advocate on behalf of each person, their success, and their wellbeing.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Philadelphia. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
