In the capacity of a Social Worker within the Department of Corrections (DOC), your primary responsibility will involve fostering communication and collaboration with various DOC personnel and community stakeholders to effectively address the specific needs of inmates.
A significant and fulfilling aspect of this role is the opportunity to work directly with inmates, allowing you to witness their active participation in the transformative process of rehabilitation.
You will be tasked with assessing the types of services, programs, and treatments necessary for the inmates on your caseload, as well as facilitating both group and individual counseling sessions aimed at reentry and discharge planning.
Additionally, you will prepare comprehensive written reports detailing each inmate's progress and adjustment during their time in the institution, along with staff recommendations for the courts and parole authorities.
Managing complex cases, particularly those involving inmates who are also engaged with mental health services, will require you to make independent decisions that consider the interplay of various systems affecting the inmates' overall success.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,971.00 (before taxes).
Additional pay will be considered for those who currently possess or obtain licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselors.
Documentation will need to be provided at interview to receive additional pay consideration.
