About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to Outdoor Recreation on Nellis AFB, NV.

Flexible employees have no guaranteed hours but may work up to 40 hours per week. This position does not offer benefits.

Required to lift and carry heavy equipment weighing up to 60 pounds and handles heavier objects. Works indoor and outdoors during all weather conditions. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Practical working knowledge of recreational activities, rules and procedures.

Must have the ability to become skilled in the use of tools and test equipment to diagnose ski equipment.

Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical skills required to repair and maintain Services equipment. Knowledge of supply system, including lead time required for ordering bench stock or replacement parts.

Major Duties:

Performs a variety of maintenance and mechanical duties pertaining to repairs to building and equipment at Services Equipment Rental.

Maintains recreation support equipment, including gas powered lawn equipment, fishing boats with engines, ski equipment, rotor tillers, edgers, etc.

Handles all minor repair problems (where economically feasible) pertaining to a large variety of camping equipment, home repair items, and outdoor recreational equipment, including camp trailers, gas engine repairs, etc.

Assembles all new equipment, such as bikes, trailers, canoes and gas powered equipment. Assists in minor repair work on the Services facility.

This encompasses painting, minor carpentry work, laying tiles, etc. Courteously and tactfully instructs and advises patrons in boating safety and the safe use of other equipment.

Receives, inventories, and delivers supply items to NAF activities when required. Turns-in and picks-up equipment from Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office (DRMO).

Prepares required paperwork for disposal or procurement as necessary. Maintains assigned vehicle for daily readiness. Identifies vehicle malfunctions and reports needed to repairs to supervisor.
