THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a SMALL ARMS REPAIRER, Position Description Number D1227000 and is part of the PA Unit Training Equipment Site, National Guard.

1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement. APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees at the Unit Training Equipment Site AOC 2: NG employees in the DCSG4 (This includes Combined Support Maintenance Shop - West, Director of Logistics, State Surface Maintenance Office, FMS's 2, 4, 5, 9, 10, 16, 17, 24, 27, 28, 29, and 33, and the Combined Support Maintenance Shop - East) AOC 3: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC 4: All service members of the Pennsylvania National Guard (This includes M-Day Soldiers, Temporary Technicians and AGR Personnel) Military Grades: ENLISTED E1-E7 Supervisor for this position is CW3 Desantis *NOTE: Accessioning into this position is contingent upon verification of Secret Security Clearance GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates a working knowledge to read and interpret instructions, repair manual, specifications and drawings; must have a knowledge of shop mathematics sufficient to use testing devices and measuring instruments; and be proficient in the use and maintenance of hand tools and equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must show experience or training with substantial mechanical skill is required to effectively and efficiently repair, overhaul, and rebuild small arms for both conventional uses and for weapons involving accurization.

Experience to inspect, diagnose malfunctioning, wear and/or damage is required. The ability to perform accurization procedures on weapons to improve their performance is required.

Basic knowledge of other trades in order to modify and/or manufacture weapons parts for accurization is required.

Experience to apply technical manuals, regulations, specifications and drawings to determine operation, assembly and tolerances of the variety of weapons worked on is required for successful performance.

Experience using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools and gages is required.

Tools include drills, files, precision gages and measuring instruments, magnafluxing equipment and/or borescopes to determine when parts are worn or damaged beyond acceptable tolerances.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying.

Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed.

The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

SPECIAL NOTE: Per the Merit Promotion and Placement Plan (MPP) if there are more than 15 qualified applicants for each position, by category, a KSA board will be convened in accordance with Chapter 4 of the MPP.

Major Duties:

As a SMALL ARMS REPAIRER, WG-6610-09, you will perform accurization of national match weapons (pistols, rifles, and light machine guns) on a limited basis.

Disassemble weapons, assemblies, subassemblies and other components. Examine for defects, misalignment and malfunctions. Perform overhaul, maintenance, and repair on a variety of small arms.

Use micrometer to measure altered tolerances and makes additional adjustments as required.

Is responsible for accountability, storage and security of arms and other sensitive items while they are kept for repair, usually in vaults with limited access.

May serve as a commodity inspector during Command Maintenance Management evaluations (COMET) or as a member of a Maintenance Assistance Instruction Team (MAIT). Perform other duties as assigned.
