Job Description

Summary

This job involves repairing and maintaining ski and snowboard equipment at a military ski area in Alaska, including fixing bindings, boots, poles, and snowboards, as well as helping with ski lift maintenance when needed.

Full Job Description

This position is located at Birch Hill Ski and Snowboard Area. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Knowledge of and skill to maintain and repair skis, boots, poles, bindings, snowboards.

Skill in the use of a variety of manual and electrical tools and shop machines necessary for the maintenance and repair of equipment.

Knowledge of basic mathematics to estimate/order materials, conduct measurements, and make adjustments.

Ability to read and interpret manufacturer specifications used in the repair and maintenance of equipment.

Ability to distinguish or determine proper dimensions and/or type of equipment needed to insure proper fit.

Knowledge of the proper methods of accurately completing documentation forms, taking inventory, maintaining hand receipts, etc.

Demonstrated work experience that furnish the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade as indicated above.

Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools and equipment. Ability to read, understand, and apply instruction and other materials related to the job. Major Duties:

  • Repairs and inspects ski and snow equipment (i.e. ski edges and bases; binding toe and heel latches; boots and poles; cross country skis, binding and poles; and snowboards).
  • Bonds, grinds and replaces pads, baskets, straps, arms, latches, snaps, buckles, laces and grips as specified by the manufacturers workshop manuals.
  • Assists with maintenance, inspections, servicing and/or attending of ski lifts as needed.
  • Performs release calibration tests, checks edging and overall conditions of equipment.
  • Maintains machines, tools, bench stock and authorized repair parts in a clean and orderly manner, turning in all unserviceable and excess equipment, tools and supplies for disposal
