Base salary range: $147,649 - $221,900

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading a team of shipwrights in a naval shipyard, overseeing woodworking tasks like cutting and shaping timber for ship repairs and maintenance.
You'll ensure work is done safely, efficiently, and according to plans, while guiding workers and checking their progress.
It's a good fit for experienced woodworkers with leadership skills who enjoy hands-on supervision in a technical, team-based environment.
You will serve as a SHIPWRIGHT LEADER in the TEMPORARY SERVICES SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Lead Or Supervise Setting up and operating woodworking machines such as timber sizer, resaws, cut off saws, band saws, rip saws, table saws, and drill presses.
Setting up procedures and methods to solve work problems. Equipment surveying and dry dock set up procedures. Ability to know lumber grades and specifications.
Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, and work orders.
