Job Description

Summary

This role involves creating, delivering, and improving training programs to help employees in the city's finance department build skills and advance professionally.

The analyst researches needs, designs courses and materials, runs sessions both in-person and online, and tracks results to ensure programs meet goals.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or equivalent experience substitution)
  • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience as a trainer or instructor
  • Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License
  • Knowledge of instructional and teaching methods, practices, and procedures
  • Experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating in-person and virtual trainings (preferred)
  • Experience in developing and managing training programs using adult learning theories (preferred)
  • Certified Professional Trainer (CPT), Certified Learning and Development Professional (CLDP), or similar certification (preferred)

Full Job Description

Under general direction, performs analytical work related to training programs for skilled, technical, and professional development. Gathers research and data, analyzes data, develops and plans solutions, and conducts training to achieve goals and objectives. May exercise technical or functional supervision over assigned staff.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM

Requirements

  • Develops and reviews educational and professional development training curriculum.
  • Prepares and conducts training classes.
  • Develops, reviews, and updates training manuals, materials, and lesson plans.
  • Researches, reviews, and updates training visual aids.
  • Manages and analyzes surveys for program development.
  • Works with other departments to develop in-house training.
  • Maintains training records and participant files.
  • Travels to different locations to participate in training programs initiatives and conducts training sessions.
  • Coordinates and participates with local entities, higher education, and private institutions.
  • Prepares and monitors the division budget.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Two (2) years of increasing responsible experience as a trainer or instructor
  • Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating effective in-person and virtual trainings.
  • Experience in developing and managing effective training/professional development programs using a variety of teaching methods, adult learning theories, instructional materials and resources.
  • Certified Professional Trainer (CPT), Certified Learning and Development Professional (CLDP), or similar certification(s)
Applicant Information

Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job.

One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months.

One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
