Full Job Description

King County Department of Judicial Administration is seeking a knowledgeable, collaborative and customer-focused Senior HR Business Partner (Senior HR Analyst) to serve as a generalist and deliver exceptional services to department managers, supervisors, and staff.

The Senior HR Business Partner will work directly with the DJA HR Manager, creating a team that will provide comprehensive HR services for DJA.

Our successful candidate will have experience building strong relationships with senior managers while providing consultation and assistance with recruiting, leave management, general HR business processes, and King County policies and practices.

This role requires daily interaction with senior-level management and multiple business units, along with a solid understanding of FMLA, other leave programs, and HR best practices and strategies.

Requirements

  • Conduct recruitment functions; identify opportunities to improve the hiring manager and candidate experience, serve as the point of contact for recruitment issues, and generate diverse applicant pools that support Equity and Social Justice Goals.
  • Manage leave and accommodation processes.

    Administer FMLA and other leave benefits, review and approve leave requests, ensure compliance with federal, state, and county laws/policies, and provide consultation on leaves issues.

    Coordinate with central HR, Benefits, and Payroll as needed. Maintain leave records and compile leave usage reports.

  • HR Systems and Analytics. Utilize data tracking tools, support electronic records management, and assist the HR manager with department-wide projects using continuous improvement techniques such as LEAN.
  • Perform PeopleSoft and HCM Transactions: Ensure accuracy and compliance in HR systems.
  • Provide HR Consultation: Advise supervisors, managers, and staff on a variety of HR topics, act as liaison between management and employees, and make recommendations on complex and sensitive issues.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service: Research and respond to inquiries, provide accurate information, and coordinate with other units/departments as needed. Offer backup support for HR transactions when required.

Qualifications

  • Have experience managing full-cycle recruitment and providing consultative advice to hiring managers.
  • Have experience managing leave and accommodations processes and resolving related inquiries.
  • Have served as an HR Generalist performing a wide variety of HR duties.
  • Are proficient in PeopleSoft, NeoGov, and Laserfiche or other similar human capital management, recruitment and records systems.
  • Can manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively and have good skills in writing business work products and demonstrate a genuine collaborative and consultative approach.
  • Are excited to work in a supportive, inclusive workplace with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate proficient time management skills, adaptability, and the ability to deliver high-quality work under shifting priorities.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, writing, and customer service skills.
  • Are experienced with collaborative tools such as SharePoint and MS Teams.

This role offers a blend of in-office and remote work. The successful candidate will currently work on site at our downtown Seattle or in Kent location two to three days per week. This requirement is subject to change based on evolving organizational and operational needs.

This position will work within the core hours of 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday. This role is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime eligible.
