This job involves working as a senior technician to research, test, repair, and document gaming machines and equipment for the Army's recreation program, ensuring everything runs securely and follows guidelines.
You'll create technical guides, inspect operations, and stay updated on new technology in the gaming field.

This position is located at Fort Sam Houston Texas. The Duty Station for this position is located at Fort Sam Houston, TX.
You will be expected to physically reside within commuting distance of Fort Sam Houston, TX. Telework is not guaranteed, however you may be eligible based on current agency policy.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Possess a minimum of five years of specialized experience in troubleshooting diagnosing, repairing, and operating slot machines, gaming devices and related equipment.
Possess extensive knowledge writing technical information or guides on gaming equipment. You will need to provide samples if selected for interview.
Possess recent experience that was gained in the last five years in the gaming industry as Slot Manager, Technical specialist working for a major gaming machine manufacturer or specialist working for a casino.
OR Do you possess (a) all the requirements for a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology, or- (b) 3 years of study in an accredited (by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology, Inc.
(ABET) curriculum in electronics, or - (c) a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree that included major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, physical science, technology, or mathematics.
At least 12 of the 24 semester hours must have been in electronics courses. If yes, you must submit transcripts at the time of application. Must possess demonstrated working knowledge of IT components.
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Possess project management experience that demonstrates your ability to plan, follow-up and make adjustments in order to meet completion goals.
Demonstrated experience providing training, technical direction, and guidance to co-workers. Demonstrated experience with casino gaming devices, slot machines, and electronic table games.
Demonstrated knowledge of casino operations, and gaming rules and regulations. Possess experience with IGT Advantage or other Slot Management systems.
Possess demonstrated experience installing and updating hardware and software on casino gaming machines. Possess extensive knowledge writing technical information or guides on gaming equipment.
Able to write procedures and other documentation needed for the enhancement of processes and systems. A technical writing sample will be requested if selected for interview. Major Duties:
Works under general supervision of the Supervisory Program Analyst (Chief Technical Development and Training) in the Army Recreation Machine Program.
Create, update, and completes HQ technical documents and assignments related to research, documentation, testing, evaluating, and maintaining gaming devices and related equipment.
Researches, identifies, and tests new and current gaming products. Maintains laboratory test equipment and machines in working condition.
Assists in development and publishing of organization gaming machine technical SOPs, including security procedures, organization technical memoranda and bulletins related to operation of gaming machines and supporting peripheral equipment.
Researches and stays abreast of developing technology and gaming machine applications.
Develops processes to test and validate that operational systems and data support systems are secure and operating properly.
Conducts periodic quality control inspections of field operations to ensure compliance with SOPs, technical memoranda, technical bulletins, and machine/network security.
Provide technical support and guidance to district staff as required. Evaluate and troubleshoot technical compatibility of gaming devices with Slot Management System (SMS).
Liaise with vendors to coordinate troubleshooting and solutions for known issues. Maintain an in-depth technical knowledge and understanding of gaming devices and related infrastructure.
Proactively stay abreast of the latest industry, gaming technologies and solutions. Fully conversant with all gaming equipment installed in the locations.
Perform administrative duties such as typing technical memorandums (TM) for the gaming products, writing Concept of Operations for new ideas to be implemented.
Also, responsible for parts ordering and requisitions of gaming equipment. Document in detail gaming devices problems and present resolutions for future reference.
Support user acceptance testing and communicate solutions to peers and supervisors.
Uses diagnostic and analytical tools to troubleshoot, isolate and remedy both mechanical and electronic engineering problems with gaming equipment and supporting peripherals.
Tests, evaluates and distributes gaming machine software and firmware in a secure and verifiable fashion.
Develops and conducts standardized training for all organization Field Service Technicians Electronic Engineering Technicians.
Interprets technical guidance from State Gaming Licensing Boards and independent Testing Laboratories.
Manages projects related to testing and fielding of new gaming machines and/or peripheral equipment.
Maintains ongoing communication and ensures ongoing coordination with commercial vendors of gaming machine products.
Evaluates and recommends adoption of new technical systems and equipment that support enhanced business operations to enhance revenues and/or reduce operating expenses.
Assures property and resources are protected against fraud, waste, abuse or misappropriation. Evaluate and maintain proper internal control standards in conjunction with standard Army policies.
Take immediate corrective action to correct any identified deficiencies.
Support Army and ARMP procedures and guidance to identify potential areas of risk for theft or loss of funds or assets and initiates corrective actions.
Maintains good communication with co-workers and maintains a positive and professional work environment.
