This role leads a team focused on improving student outcomes in Colorado's education system, from preschool through college, by shaping policies on admissions, services, and seamless transitions between school levels.
It involves working with various groups like schools, colleges, and state officials to create and oversee programs that help students succeed.
A good fit would be an experienced education leader with strong skills in policy development, team management, and building partnerships across different sectors.
The Senior Director of Student Success and P-20 Alignment provide leadership to the SSAA team and supports the strategic direction of the Department and the Chief Student Success and Academic Affairs Officer.
This position works with multiple stakeholder groups on high impact strategies that impact student success and academic excellence at the statewide level and has primary responsibility and oversight for student success programs in the Department.
This positions designs, implements, and monitors public policies related to the statutory responsibilities of the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) regarding student admission, student services, and P-20 alignment.
The Senior Director promotes collaboration among multiple stakeholders across the P-20 sectors.
Supervision Exercised
This position supervises two (2) employees: one (1) Director of Student Transitions and Degree Completion Initiatives and one (1) Director of Open Education and Learning Innovation.
Scope of Responsibilities
This is a senior management position responsible for planning, directing, operations, and activities Student Success and P20 Alignment for the Department.
Positions at this level are responsible for performing complex, specialized, and diverse work involving significant accountability and decision-making responsibilities, which may include program evaluation, policies, procedures, goals, objectives, priorities.
The duties of the work require the use of considerable independence, initiative, and discretion within broad guidelines.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education:
Master’s degree from an accredited university or college in education, higher education or related field
Substitution: Six (6) years of experience in a related field can replace the education requirement of a master’s degree

Typical Working Conditions
The employee typically works in a standard office environment where the noise level is moderate, and the office has controlled temperatures.
Works a 40-hour work week, either remotely, hybrid, or in-office, depending on the arrangement met during employment with the supervisor during normal office hours of Monday– Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
