UNCLASSIFIED POSITION

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required, preferably an Associate degree in business or public administration, criminal justice, law, political science/international relations, or other liberal arts degree in a related area, based on the recruitment and supplemented by two years experience in customer service, data entry, records management, administration, court/legal, law enforcement/corrections; one-year lead experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job Resumes are welcomed without personal and identifiable information.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and Affirmation as a sworn Deputy Clerk of the Court.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:

Requires knowledge of Legal terminology related to the area of assignment. Federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations governing court procedures. Practices and procedures of the Fulton County Court System. General office practices, procedures, equipment, and technology. Procedures and terminology used for various records and document systems (court/legal, medical, etc.). Principles and practices of recordkeeping and file maintenance: and techniques used to create and maintain various filing systems. Laws, rules, and regulations governing records management activities. Techniques used to research records. Records retention schedules. Corrects grammar, spelling, and punctuation. General office practices, procedures, equipment, and technology.

Requires skill in delivering high-quality, customer-focused service. Provides lead direction to staff. Organizes and prioritizes work. Interprets policies and procedures. Uses spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation, and other software to gather, organize, and present information. Enters data, understands, uses, and explains court-specific computer applications to manage court processes, gather and analyze statistics, and create reports. Creates and maintains complex filing systems. Builds sustainable working relationships with other County personnel, officials, and the public. Communicates effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and the public. Generates enthusiasm and support for program objectives.

Examination:
The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. An application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education, and experience listed to be rated as qualified. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at the time of employment, for all degrees/coursework used to qualify for this position.

Requirements

Purpose of Classification:
Maintains the records and documents for an assigned department. Acts as unit or division lead within the Fulton County court system.

Essential Functions:

Performs court clerk duties for a division of the court; examines and certifies court documents.

Processes and records payments received for fines and penalties and enters payments into computer system.

Conducts docket entry work; assists attorneys, the public, governmental agencies, and others in filing court documents and with other court-related business; enters data into court information systems; reviews daily reports from Odyssey case management system and makes data corrections as necessary.

Conducts a variety of records maintenance activities for an assigned division; files court records in accordance with court procedures and provides assistance in an assigned records room; processes disposed cases for archiving; attends court on a regular basis.

Trains and mentors other staff.

Reviews documents to determine accurate security level code, imaging documents to the file, working within the eFile and eServe queue to initiate and file documents.

Perform telephone and counter work; responds to questions/inquiries regarding court procedures; manages court records.

Additional Functions:

Physical Requirements:
Work is typically performed in an office-like environment. May work in high conflict situations and with difficult, sometimes dangerous parties. Positions in this class typically require sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive physical motions. Work in this class also involves exposure to diseases and safety and security risks. Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
