This job involves leading inspections on major public construction projects like streets, bridges, and sewage facilities to make sure everything is built safely and according to the plans, while also coordinating with contractors, engineers, and the community.

Applicant Information
Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job.
One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months.
One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

Knowledge of all phases of streets, bridges, sewer, sewage treatment plants, and drainage systems construction, to include methods, equipment, costs, and materials.
Knowledge of grades, mathematics, construction layouts, and plan interpretation. Knowledge of principles and practices of construction and engineering.
Knowledge of codes, regulations, and ordinances related to the construction industry. Knowledge of hazards, safety, and other OSHA regulations related to the construction industry.
Knowledge of engineering mathematics.
Skill in utilizing tools and equipment used in the construction, engineering, and surveying trade, to include Instrument/Level, Laser, Slum Cone, Scale, and Nuclear Density Machine.
Ability to interpret plans, blueprints, specifications. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the general public. Ability to perform engineering calculations.
Ability to use independent judgment in making decisions. Ability to exercise firmness and tact in dealing with contractors, engineers etc.
Ability to interpret and properly apply all applicable codes and regulations. Ability to perform all the physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.
