DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Senior Buyer procures goods and services through the City’s informal procurement process on a competitive basis and creates specifications and scopes as needed.
The Senior Buyer will also create contract POs from client department purchase requisitions. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates and publishes informal procurement bids for competitive award selections.
- Reviews department submitted purchase requisitions for completeness and determined if the requested goods or services are available on existing City contracts.
- Researches, write, reviews, and evaluates purchase orders and bid specifications for goods and services, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with City and departmental policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with departments and vendors to meet procurement needs.
WORKING CONDITIONSThis position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.
Requirements
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSRequires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Materials Management, Purchasing or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSFour years of professional buying experience are required.
Professional buying experience may substitute for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTSNone
