The Health and Human Services (HHS) IT Delivery Center provides end-to-end IT services to all staff in the Department of Human Services (DHS), the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP), and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA).


We are searching for a Senior Applications Developer to coordinate the work of Applications Developers on the data warehouse development team.

This role has significant and specific responsibility for the highly advanced lead technical work in the analysis, planning, design, development, programming, testing, debugging, maintenance, and documentation of Extraction, Transformation, and Load (ETL) process.

Requirements

This position involves development of complex ETL using Informatica and the development of complex, multi-dimensional logical and physical data models, complex database queries, and business metadata. Technologies used are the Informatica PowerCenter tool, SQL language, and data modeling tools on an Oracle data warehouse database. Work involves providing high-level Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) support for all mappings and data in the data warehouse as well as serving as the lead for the Informatica software administration. You will serve as the lead developer on complex systems software development teams, ensuring the utilization and compliance with Software Engineering Processes (SEP) and Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methods. You will also have the opportunity to lead and mentor junior level applications developers in the design, development, assembly, testing, and deployment of complex software use to support agency missions; as well as support and participate in total quality management, continuous quality improvement, team-based processes, and customer-focused service in all activities of Bureau of Information Systems (BIS).

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours range from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, candidate may decide schedule. Lunch period will be based on selected work schedule 30 minute or 1 hour lunch, Monday - Friday
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $77,379.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Applications Developer 2 or Computer Programmer 4 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Five years of information technology experience that includes three years of experience in applications development or applications maintenance; or
  • Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and an associate’s degree in any information technology field; or
  • One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
