SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level [GS-12 or equivalent],which demonstrates experience in analyzing internal accounting and financial reporting, researching accounting policies and regulatory guidelines in order to provide recommendations, improvements or technical modifications to management, and enhancing the validity, accuracy, and integrity of the accounting process.
Accounting degree or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.
The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
OR at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.

As a Senior Accountant, you will: Serve as a Senior Accountant in the Finance Division's Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting Branch.
Apply a mastery of professional accounting principles, standards, and methods to develop, plan, operate, monitor, and evaluate financial accounting policies, plans, systems, procedures, and data for the field office.
Perform work with minimal direction in terms of approach, and completed work is reviewed for accomplishment of established objectives.
Function as a subject matter expert in identifying and resolving novel and complex accounting problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted methods, technology, or procedures.
Assess the financial impact and implement new or changing legislation or funding levels and controls, identifies and corrects financial management problems, ensures compliance with Departmental standards.
Provide authoritative advice and guidance in the development, application, and oversight of field office and integrated contractor financial policies and procedures, proper accounting treatment and reporting of activities.
Plan and perform complex and comprehensive reviews of the adequacy of integrated contractor accounting systems and processes, financial accounting, cost accounting, indirect cost management, pricing practices, and other financial areas.
Participate in high level meetings, conferences, and special working groups with DOE/NNSA, M&O contractor, and other subject matter experts, as well as accounting and financial management officials from U.S.
Treasury, OMB, GAO, and DOD.
