Torrance State Hospital is seeking a positive and motivated Semi Skilled Laborer to join our maintenance team for a limited term.

In this role, you will help us keep the hospital grounds and facilities throughout the complex in good working order for the safety and relaxation of our patients.

Requirements

In this position, you will work with our maintenance staff in all aspects of facility upkeep and repair.

Your work will involve taking care of lawns, flower beds, trees and shrubs, and snow removal, as well as assisting the Maintenance and Transportation Department as needed and directed.

You will assist in unloading and loading shipments and deliveries, haul furniture, and record the receipt of supplies.

Some of your duties will also include delivering infectious waste to designated areas, cleaning piper tunnels and storm drains, and assisting with fertilizing and sowing of grounds.

Additionally, you will be required to drive vehicles, operate equipment such as lawnmowers, and assist other trades workers using a variety of hand and power tools.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Limited-term, full-time employment, 6 to 11 months
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime and travel as needed

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
