Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing an organization's security efforts to train staff on their roles, raise awareness of potential threats, and provide ways to strengthen security measures.

It focuses on managing programs for physical, information, personnel, and other security areas to protect the mission.

The primary purpose of this position is to manage organization's security program in order to effectively ensure all personnel are trained/aware of their security roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities; make personnel aware of threats, and/or provide security response options for enhancing security and addressing security concerns.

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems.

Specialized experience is experience in planning, implementing, and administering security programs in areas such as physical, information, industrial, personnel, and operations security.

This includes developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security for the organization.

NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.

Knowledge of physical, information, industrial, personnel, and operations security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas. 2.

Knowledge of security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs. 3.

Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the installation and supported organizations. 4.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately. 5.

Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

DUTY 1: Administers the Information Security program for the organization.

Administers DoD, USAF, and MAJCOM policies and implements procedures for the classification and protection of classified national defense and other sensitive information, originate or controlled by the organization.

DUTY 2: Administers the Industrial Security program.

Provides technical guidance in development of program/project/activity specific requirements in conjunction with Contracting Officers to ensure all solicitations and contracts include the appropriate security clauses and language.

DUTY 3: Administers the Personnel Security Program. Administers DoD, USAF, and MAJCOM policies and implements procedures for managing the Personnel Security program.

DUTY 4: Provides organization OPSEC guidance. Establishes policies and procedures for accomplishment of OPSEC activities.

Applies information protection principles to effectively mitigate OPSEC vulnerabilities across the organization/program/system as applicable.

DUTY 5: Implements and administers the Physical Security Program. Implements DOD, USAF, and MAJCOM policies and develops local procedures for assigned facilities.

Evaluates new or different types of security systems and equipment for application within the organization. DUTY 6: Represents organization with DoD, USAF, HQ AFMC and various Center organizations.

Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with these organizations.
