Job Description

Summary

This job involves protecting people, buildings, and sensitive information in a Navy program by creating security rules, checking facilities for risks, and managing locks and keys for important items.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-09 level or equivalent, including developing and implementing physical security policies, procedures, inspections, surveys, and assessments
  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-07 level or equivalent, including interpreting and implementing physical security policies and participating in inspections, surveys, and assessments
  • Obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug test and subject to random testing
  • Qualify for inclusion into the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP)
  • Obtain and maintain a current Security Fundamentals Professional certification
  • Ability to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote sites, via military and commercial aircraft

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will ensure the physical security of personnel, facilities, and classified/sensitive information and materials.
  • You will manage the planning, development, and implementation of physical security, plans, policies, and procedures to ensure control and accountability of material/assets.
  • You will conduct physical security site surveys, inspections, and reviews for compliance.
  • You will manage the lock and key program to include inventory, audit and monitoring of confidential strategic components.
  • You will plan, initiate, monitor, and evaluate a wide variety of complex security programs.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to qualify for inclusion into the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP).
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Security Fundamentals Professional certification.
