Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing security clearances, conducting interviews, and ensuring compliance for sensitive information in a naval cyber command setting in Hawaii.

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Utilize expertise in personnel security case management to conduct detailed prescreening interviews, submit initial and period background investigations, and timely reporting of derogatory information while serving in a critical security role such as a Special Security Officer (SSO) or Assistant Special Security Officer (A/SSO); Leverage information gathered from conducting incident based interviews to make critical security judgements including making final access determinations as a Personnel Security Specialist or formal eligibility determinations as an Adjudicator; Apply proficiency in physical security management for classified environments to conduct comprehensive Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) inspections and/or systematically prepare a facility and its personnel for oversight and compliance reviews.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as a source of authoritative information for the Fleet Cyber Command (FCC), Security Directorate and Special Security Officer Representative for FCC and Navy Information Operation Command (NIOC) Hawaii assets.
  • You will be responsible for the joint services for processing cases being considered for cryptologic risk assessments, counterintelligence interviews, and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) courier certification.
  • You will advise on procedures for adverse security actions, including security clearance denials, suspensions, and revocations.
  • You will review personnel security documentation for accuracy and compliance with regulatory guidelines prior to release.
  • You will ensure that office security operations are in compliance with all federal statutes, Executive Orders, and pertinent regulations and procedures in the areas of personnel security and suitability.
