Summary

This Security Officer role involves overseeing various security programs for a U.S.

Army office in Arlington, Virginia, including managing classified information, conducting inspections for vulnerabilities, and providing training to staff on security practices.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience is defined as: 1) Provide guidance on the monitoring of classification regulations; 2) Establish security policies and procedures for organization and all stakeholders; 3) Conduct security education programs that provide security briefings to all personnel; and 4) Conduct physical security inspections for facilities to find security vulnerabilities.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02 or GS-11). Major Duties:

  • Serves as a Special Security Representative for DASAs DEC.
  • Manages the information, personnel, force protection, industrial security, and intelligence programs both at the Collateral and Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) level for DASA DEC.
  • Responsible for all matters involving preparation and implementation of the DASA DEC personnel, physical, COMSEC, OPSEC, and SCI Security Programs.
  • Serve as an Individual Antiterrorism Travel Coordinator for DASAs DEC assisting customers with the submission of foreign travel request in the IATP data base.
  • Analyzes accident and injury reports to discover trends and mishap causes, and to develop recommendations for eliminating or controlling detected hazards.
  • Recommends corrective procedures where potential for injury or property damage exists.
  • Ensures access controls are uniform to maximum extent possible throughout the agency.
  • Manages a document review program for the expeditious retirement of historical materials, proper destruction of excess materials, and to reduce classified holdings.
