Job Description

Summary

This job is for a security officer at a veterans' home in Pennsylvania, where you'll patrol the grounds, monitor cameras, handle emergencies, and assist residents and visitors to keep everyone safe.

Requirements

In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all residents, staff, and visitors at Delaware Valley Veterans’ Home.

Your work will involve working desk duty, monitoring the camera system, patrolling the grounds by car and foot, and making rounds of the building and grounds.

You will complete assigned tours, check locks, make sure buildings are secure after hours, and document observations and actions by completing daily reports.

Further duties include conducting investigations by gathering evidence and interviewing victims, witnesses, and suspects.

You will also direct and control traffic and respond promptly to emergency calls.

Additionally, you will assist visitors, residents, and staff by answering telephones and giving directions and information, as well as assist nursing staff in locating and returning missing residents.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with rotating days including weekends and holidays.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license.


Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience in the security field
  • Experience in a nursing-type facility searching or assisting in the search of missing residences during an emergency
  • Previous experience in the security field, including tasks such as:
    • Patrol grounds and buildings
    • Check for violation of fire and safety rules and regulations
    • Check locks/lights of buildings or offices
    • Answer phone calls related to security concerns and emergencies
    • Assist and offer customer service to visitors and public
    • Approach unauthorized persons to prevent loitering
    • Assist with police investigations
    • Work with fire/safety panels, such as address alarms and reset trouble codes
    • Work with disaster and emergency preparedness plans
    • Operate surveillance/security equipment and monitors


Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
