Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serve as a Security Guard with the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, 596th US Army Transportation Surface Brigade (ARTRANS).

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience working with a Federal, State, municipal, local or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life; such as the following: enforce security rules and regulations; escort persons or vehicles; verity the identification of an individual entering controlled areas; perform security patrols to identify potential hazards; perform traffic control; control the access of personnel or vehicles to property/installation; monitor various alarm systems; respond to security incidents.

Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques.

Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Control access of vehicles, pedestrians, boats, rail cars and aircraft/drone access to the terminal.
  • Perform badge spot checks, random vehicle inspections of incoming and out-going containers/equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Guard and protect Federally owned property, buildings and equipment.
  • Conduct rudimentary inquiries and interview witnesses/suspects of violations.
  • Perform security guard duties in accordance with appropriate regulations.
  • Enforce the security and safety regulations of the terminal.
