About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency (DHA). It is located within the Directorate of Executive Hospital Safety at the Dwight D.

Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Eisenhower in Augusta, Georgia.

The primary purpose is to protect personnel and prevent the damage or loss of property within Army Medical hospitals, government leased facilities, and other DHA activities.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Who May Apply: US Citizens Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to veterans' preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment.

If there are no Veteran's preference eligible applicants available, non-preference applicants may be considered. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience such as work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life.

Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques.

Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Maintain records and prepare required reports pertaining to security function include a daily staff journal.
  • Maintain surveillance over facility.
  • Investigate abnormal activities and/or conditions that are possibly detrimental to patients and staff.
  • Prevent unauthorized access to facilities and protect hazardous and/or restricted areas.
  • Perform traffic control when needed to include inclement weather.
