This job involves supporting staff at a juvenile detention center by safely escorting young detainees, handling conflicts through counseling and restraint, and maintaining security to prevent incidents like escapes or assaults.
It also includes tasks like searching for contraband, monitoring visits, and performing housekeeping duties.
A good fit would be a male candidate with experience working with children, strong de-escalation skills, and a commitment to the safety of youth and staff in a secure environment.
Serve in a support role to Juvenile Detention and Post-Adjudication Institutional staff by escorting detained juveniles from intra- and inter-locations in a safe and secure manner.
De-escalate and counsel volatile and physically aggressive juveniles; maintain secure custody of detained residents; prevent escapes, assaults and misconduct by residents; conduct search and property inventory of new in-custody referrals; conduct dress in and release procedures; conduct personal and facility searches; screen and monitor visitation; counsel and assign disciplinary actions; receive and correctly distribute confidential resident information; assist with inter-departmental transportation and document all non-routine events.
Conduct various housekeeping duties including resident laundry.
