About the Position: West Point Middle School is part of the Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA), which operates 191 schools in 14 districts located in 12 foreign countries, seven states, Guam, and Puerto Rico.

WPMS currently includes grades six through eight, totaling about 150 students. This position is covered by the DD 2396 FEA-SR Classified Federal Education Association Stateside Region bargaining unit.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this grade, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

You may claim Military Spouse preference. You may claim Priority Placement Program (PPP) preference. Major Duties:

  • Maintain time and attendance records to ensure timely submissions to payroll.
  • Compile information for a variety of one-time and recurring administrative and/or technical reports.
  • Maintain and control the calendar and schedule appointments for the Principal and Assistant Principal.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Make travel arrangements for the school staff.
  • Receive calls and visitors and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff member.
  • Coordinate substitute teacher assignments.
  • Establish and manage all records and files.
  • Prepare a variety of administrative and clerical duties unique to the school environment.
