You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist.
In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
~AND~ To qualify for this position at the GS-6 level, applicants must meet the following: Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5) in Federal Service, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Secretary (Office Automation), GS-6 position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position.
Specialized Experience Includes: receiving visitors and telephone calls to the office; scheduling appointments; coordinating meetings and conferences; preparing correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication; preparing travel arrangements; utilizing office automation software and maintaining files.
This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. Preferred Experience: Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload to meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
Ability to perform high level problem solving. Ability to organize work and function independently as well as part of a team to develop solutions.
Review documents for accuracy, omissions, and inconsistencies. Prepare edit correspondence to include proper and correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.
Maintain records and files accurately, collecting and recording data.
Demonstrated experience working with office automation such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Database software to create a variety of documents.
Ensure date entry is complete and accurate. Generate documents and reports from multiple computer programs for submission to supervisor.

Major duties include but are not limited to: Serves as primary coordinator of large conferences: obtaining speakers, developing handouts, obtaining slides/training videos, scheduling and coordinating audiovisual equipment, conference rooms, attendee notification, and food service support.
Analyzes workload variations and potential problems and inconsistencies by monitoring and reviewing clinical capacity, patient appointment lead times, anticipated workload, and provider schedules/duty hours.
Serves as Lead Timekeeper for the Primary Care Service: Ensuring time cards are electronically posted and certified for all assigned physicians and administrative staff; Ensuring timely submission and compliance with procedures.
Provides personnel management and administrative support to the Primary Care Service Office, monitoring personnel leave, pay, and work schedule related actions; recommending appropriate personnel actions and alternatives based on discussions with Human Resources and other Primary Care Service staff and personal analysis and/or interpretation of VASDHS internal and HR policies, budgetary constraints, and work priorities.
Formulates plans and provides advice to Primary Care Service Sections on resolving administrative problems.
Screens all Primary Care Chief and Primary Care Service Office calls and determines if the call requires attention; Supplies the requested information when the question concerns information the incumbent has knowledge of or can obtain.
Maintains department and facility level memoranda. Performs all fund control point ordering/reconciling actions for the Primary Care Service Office.
Coordinates the purchase of and maintains adequate stocks of office supplies; Contacts appropriate personnel for maintenance and repair of office equipment and facilities.
Plans and/or accomplishes special projects assigned by the Chief of Primary Care or other Primary Care Service Office staff; Researches, collects, analyzes, interprets and develops documentation or presentations for special projects involving administrative/support issues involving Primary Care clinical programs and/or administrative activities.
