We're looking for dedicated, team-oriented, and reliable individuals with a passion for customer service to join our seasonal workforce!
As part of a crew, you’ll take on a range of responsibilities including routine grounds keeping at Solid Waste facilities, assisting with general upkeep, operating a variety of light equipment, cleaning up illegal dumping sites, and roadside debris removal.
About the Job
Hours of work vary depending on which team you are assigned to. Groundskeeping hours are 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Litter Crew hours are 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Crews will be assigned on the first day of work.
There is a variety of work to be performed through spring, summer, and early fall. Employment timeframe is between April 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026. Duties may include:
Candidates should be comfortable working outside and working in a solid waste environment.
This position requires the ability to communicate effectively orally via radios with co-workers, leads, and supervisors.
Location Cathcart Way Operations Center, 8915 Cathcart Way, Snohomish, WA 98296 This seasonal position pays $26.81 per hour and is typically scheduled for 40 hours per week.
You will be assigned to work at one or more of the Solid Waste county locations.

The minimum qualifications for this position are: Must be 18 or older by start date, have WA driver’s license, and have one (1) year experience in construction, maintenance work or commercial gardening, landscaping, or yard care experience.

Applicants who pass the Minimum Qualifications will be placed on an Eligibility Register and then hired in order by the date their application was received. The Eligibility Register will expire on October 31, 2026.

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and complete the reference check process will be emailed a conditional offer notice with instructions on how to move forward in the hiring process.
The conditions of the offer will include instructions and deadlines on these required steps. Deadlines are strictly enforced.

Physical Abilities Test (PAT) and Drug/Alcohol Screening - March 2026:
The PAT will include a drug/alcohol screening, medical examination and Physical Evaluation Fitness Test performed by a qualified healthcare professional selected by Snohomish County.
This is a laborer position involving a variety of routine manual labor tasks. This includes strenuous physical effort such as lifting objects weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
Because this job is considered safety sensitive, a drug screen test will be required prior to employment.
5. Final offer and start date:
Applicants who have met all the requirements of the Conditional Offer will be emailed a Final Offer Notice.
The Final Offer Notice will include detailed employment information and requirements for your hire date/new employee orientation.
Please note, per the collective bargaining agreement, the start date must be on or after April 1, 2026, and the end date must be on or before October 31, 2026.
