Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2026. NOTE: OPM has identified this position as eligible for an exception to the typical 1039 hour season.

To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time).
If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
To qualify for this position at the GS-9 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).
Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position.
Experience may have been in technical, administrative or scientific work; fish and wildlife management, recreation management, law enforcement, or other park related work.
Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to, park guide or tour leader; environmental educator or teacher; law enforcement or investigative work; archeological or historical preservation research work; forestry and/or fire management work in a park, recreation, or conservation area; management, assistant, or program specialist work involving the development and implementation of policy related to protection, conservation, or management of park areas or similar operations; or other similar work." You must include hours worked per week.
-OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least two full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree related to the occupation (Major study -- natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources.
Course work in fields other than those specified may be accepted if it clearly provides applicants with the background of knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance in the position to be filled.).
You must include transcripts. -OR- Equivalent combination of education and specialized experience.
To combine education and experience take the number of semester hours (or equivalent) earned towards a masters degree and divide by 18 semester hours (or equivalent).
Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts.

Major Duties:
Expresses information (ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (i.e.
technical, sensitive, controversial); Makes clear and convincing oral presentations, listens to other, attends to visitor needs and questions providing professional customer service.
Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Operate the park visitor center, track park statistics, and ensure visitor safety.
Manages group processes; encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals.
