Full Job Description

The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for these parks is May - November, but the season may be extended or reduced due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding.

Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2026 Open to the first 100 applicants or until 02/23/2026 whichever comes first.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.

Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.

(including blueprinting reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.

As a Maintenance Worker (Trails), you will perform the following duties: Perform routine to moderately complex tasks for maintaining and constructing Blue Ridge Parkway trails.

Trail maintenance, including marking trails and addressing visitor-reported issues such as downed timber. Operation and maintenance of trail equipment.

Delivering trail materials and supplies to work locations. Planning and coordinating youth group and volunteer projects for trail upkeep.

Using GIS software for trail assessments, mapping, and developing improvement plans.
