Job Description

Summary

Full Job Description

A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected.

The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Guilford Courthouse NHP is April-October, but the season may be extended or reduced due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding.

Anticipated Entry on Duty: early April.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Works as part of a crew performing a variety of tasks related to the rehabilitation and repair of projects in the park. Operates riding/hand mowers and trimmers to maintain the appearance of grounds.

Performs litter pick-up and comfort station maintenance.

Performs minor building maintenance such as repair of screens, replacement of light bulbs and lenses, lubrication of hinges, locks and window slides.

Routinely operates passenger vehicles and four-wheel drive pick-ups to transport personnel and materials.

Performs routine and preventative maintenance on equipment such as changing oil, filters, lubricating bearings and joints, changing tires, replenishing various fluids, washing, and waxing.

Area Information: Guilford Courthouse National Military is six miles from downtown Greensboro. Greensboro is located in a temperate climate with four equal seasons.

Summer high temperatures average in the high 80's with high humidity. The City of Greensboro has a population of approximately 200,000.

The Piedmont Triad (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High-Point and outlying areas) has a population of over 1 million.

There are ten colleges and universities and three Community Colleges in the Piedmont Triad. Guilford County schools are rated as some of the best in North Carolina.

The region has a variety of shopping and amenities. Housing prices are moderate. Greensboro is centrally located, 3 1⁄2 hours to the coast and 1-1⁄2 hours from the mountains.

An international airport serves the area.
