Base salary range: $37,764 - $49,094
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-5. Bachelor's degree + some experience.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This seasonal job involves leading a small team to collect entrance fees, handle donations, and manage financial records at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan.
You'll also train staff, answer visitor questions, and promote park activities as a uniformed representative.
It's a good fit for someone with customer service experience, money handling skills, and a passion for outdoor recreation who enjoys supervising others in a national park setting.
You will lead at least three full-time employees in performing a variety of duties associated with the collection, deposit, tracking, and expenditure of fee revenue and donations collected from the public under legal authorities such as the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act.

- AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).
This experience includes activities such as: performing fee collection, accounting or financial duties to include operating a point-of-sale system; using an automated financial system to perform accounting and/or financial transactions; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial record; resolving software issues that arise in the remittance and/or fee collection process.
You must include hours per week worked.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
Some of the duties you will perform include: Lead three or more full-time employees on a regular and recurring basis in fee collection and performing assignments in accordance with all NPS and U.S.
Treasury regulations governing the handling of government funds.
Distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization, assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload, and assure that each employee has enough work to keep busy.
Provide on the job training, mentoring, and coaching to employees, volunteers, and/or interns in accordance with established procedures and practices.
Estimate and report on expected time of completion of work and maintain records of work accomplishments and time expended and prepare production reports as requested.
Instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions, reference materials, and supplies.
Serve as a front-line, uniformed representative of the National Park Service (NPS), answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc.
