Job Description

Summary

This seasonal laborer job with the National Park Service involves hands-on outdoor and maintenance work at Shiloh National Military Park in Tennessee, such as mowing lawns, clearing trails, picking up litter, and using tools to keep the grounds and buildings in good shape during the summer of 2026.

Full Job Description

A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

As a Laborer, you will perform the following duties: Operates heavy power equipment such as lawn mowers, portable snow blowers, and all types of hand tools such as shovels rakes, and lawn edging equipment.

Maintains buildings, grounds, roads, and trails. Loads and unloads supplies and materials from trucks, trailers, dollies, etc. Moves furniture, removes and sets signs, paints picnic tables and signs.

Rakes and waters lawns, trims trees and shrubbery. Picks up litter and cleans fire pits. Digs ditches and trenches with pick and shovel. Occasionally performs janitorial duties for buildings.
